The period film is set in the late Ming Dynasty, where a young emperor is determined to take down the all-powerful eunuch Wei and purge his supporters. Caught in the midst of the intrigue are three lowly, cash-strapped warriors from the Imperial Assassins, the secret police, who are given the orders to find and kill Wei.
Brotherhood of Blades also stars Ye Qing (Man of Tai Chi), Chin Shih-chieh (Reign of Assassins, My Spectacular Theatre), Wang Qianyuan (The Golden Era), Li Dongxue, Nie Yuan (The Lost Bladesman), Zhao Lixin (Silent Witness), Qiao Lei, Yang Yi, Gu Dian, Ye Xiangming, and Yang Xiaobo.
The sword-wielding drama was nominated for four Golden Horse Awards in 2014, including Best Actor (Chang Chen), Best Supporting Actor (Chin Shih-chieh), and Best Action Choreography (Sang Lin), taking home the award for Best Makeup & Costume Design (Tingting Liang).
Synopsis: Lu, Shen Lian, and Yichuan. Three sworn brothers, and deadly Jinyiwei – Secret Police of the Imperial Guard.
