Tonight's screening of Kamachop, director Anji Matsumoto's feature film debut, marks the end of the New York -Tokyo Film Grand Prix 2008.
The film, made on a $6,000 budget (!), is about two young, baseball uniform wearing ghosts named Kamachi and Chop. Together they are known as Kamachop. They've taken up residence in a Tokyo hotel room.
They become intrigued by the selflessness of an older woman who has come to Tokyo to borrow money from a loan shark. She intends to give the money to her n'er-do-well slacker of a son to help him out.
Director Matsumoto will be putting in an appearance after the screening.
Also, complementary drinks will be served after the movie in honor of the finale of the NYTFGP 2008 Festival.
