The theme of the 5th annual Japan Day @ Central Park is “GANBARE! JAPAN!” in recognition of the devastating earthquake and tsunamis that hit Japan in March. Besides a special charity tent dedicated to raising funds for relief and recovery*, Japan Day will feature a variety of family-friendly activities and inspirational stage performances featuring entertainers from Japan and the U.S.
Japan Society will be co-hosting the language tent in the Bandshell Area - please stop by to say "konnichiwa" and learn some new words of hope and encouragement!
NOTE NEW LOCATION:
Central Park's Rumsey Playfield (for performances) and Bandshell Area
(for activities). Main Entrance at 69th Street and 5th Avenue.
For a detailed schedule of events, transportation options, and more, please visit japandaynyc.org.
*Donations will be accepted both through the Japan Day website and at the festival, and will be forwarded to organizations raising funds for disaster relief and recovery, including Japan Society’s Japan Earthquake Relief Fund and J.C.C. Fund's 2011 Northeastern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund.
