South Korea’s Venus Talk, directed by KWON Chul-In, is coming to select North American theaters on February 28th. The film stars three of Korea’s most accomplished and provocative actresses including Jo Min-Soo (Pieta), UHM Jung-Hwa (Haeundae), and MOON So-Ri (Oasis).
Synopsis: Independent TV producer Shin-Hye (UHM Jung-Hwa), self-assured housewife Mi-Yeon (MOON So-Ri), and single mom Hae-Young (JO Min-Soo) are a tight-knit group of 40-something friends going through the ups and downs of their lives and loves in modern day Seoul. This racy comedy is the latest from director KWON Chil-in, known for his frank portrayals of relationships and women’s sexuality.
Following a drunken work party, Shin-Hye ends up spending the night with her much younger colleague, who later wants their relationship to become more than a one-night stand. Mi-yeon enjoys spicing things up with her husband but she doesn’t know that he secretly takes viagra as her libido takes its toll on him. Meanwhile Hae-young, whose grown-up daughter still lives with her, begins dating a carpenter.
I'm expecting to watch an online screener of the film, so look for a review here at AsianCineFest on or before the February 28th release date.
