Yuen Biao in Tai Chi Hero |
Yuen Biao was born on July 26, 1957 in Hong Kong. His birth-name is Hsia Ling-Jun. He trained at the same school as Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan and starred in several films with them (including Project A in 1983 and Wheels on Meals the following year).
One of Yuen's most memorable starring performances was in The Prodigal Son (1981), directed by and starring Sammo. And in Sammo's Shanghai Express (a.k.a. Millionaire's Express, 1986), Yuen Biao performs an incredible flip off the roof of a three story building, as well as several other terrific stunts and fight sequences.
Most recently he appeared in Tai Chi Hero (2012) as Li Qiankun. In it his character squared off against Yang Lu Chan (Yuan Xiaochao), the star of the planned trilogy, in the final, fantastic fight sequence which takes place on the edges of narrow partitions within in a royal kitchen.
So happy 57th birthday wishes, Yuen Biao, from AsianCineFest and all your many world-wide fans.
